Guardianship and Supported Decision Making

Granting guardianship for a person with an intellectual or developmental disability requires a court proceeding which deems the person as incapacitated. Supported decision making allows the person with the disability to make decisions, with support, promoting autonomy, dignity, and control while fostering independence.
