About Us
Institutions were once seen as the only residential option for people with disabilities. However, the past thirty years have seen a greater understanding that all people can live how and where they choose with the right supports. The Community Living Education Project (CLEP) was founded at Rutgers in 1991 to help facilitate this shift in thinking. With a focus on person-centered practices, transitions to community living have happened person-by-person, family-by-family. In New Jersey this has been, and remains, the work of CLEP.
