Mary Kneuer
Mary serves as a Training and Consultation Specialist at Rutgers Community Living Education Project, providing a wealth of information in creative housing options, community resources, and support with navigating the Division of Developmental Disability (DDD) system. Mary has over 23 years of experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) to choose how they live, work, worship, volunteer, become, and remain active participants in the communities of their choice. Mary has extensive experience in Person-Centered Thinking and Planning with a variety of tools and methods.
Mary is a Housing Navigator with the Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey and is experienced in implementing individualized and creative housing options; self-directed models as well as provider-family partnership models. Mary started with Support Coordination in 2003, worked in leadership with experience and knowledge of Medicaid waivers, compliance, both state and federal, quality assurance, compliance implementation, and practices.
Mary is a mother of 3, two of her sons experience developmental disabilities. Mary brings numerous years of experience navigating the special education and adult system for people with developmental disabilities. Mary was one of early family members who advocated for individualized, person-centered supports which began in NJ in 2003.
Mary is an active member of numerous groups working to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities including the Supportive Housing Association Family Work Group; the Regional Family Support Planning Council #6 for Monmouth and Ocean Counties; the NJ Family Advisory Council to the Division of Developmental Disabilities; and the Developmental Disabilities Advocacy Network’s Person-Centered/Self-Directed Services Committee.
