Health and Safety
Like everyone else, health and safety are primary concerns for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. Person-centered thinking and planning can be applied to health and safety by balancing what’s important “for” the person with what’s important “to” the person. Things like medication, diet, underlying conditions, behavioral support needs, and equipment needs can all be part of someone’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), allowing them to live a person-centered community-based life.
