A new kind of conversation is coming to the Community Living Education Project via podcast, one that centers around real families, real experiences and real voices.
Our upcoming podcast, which we're calling CLEP's Possibilities Café, invites you into the heart of family life alongside adult children with developmental disabilities. It’s a safe space where stories unfold honestly, where moments of uncertainty, growth, joy, and resilience are shared without judgement or a prescribed path.
Launching this podcast embraces a powerful and necessary reminder that people are not their diagnosis. This is not about labels or limitations; it’s truly about being person-centered. It’s about seeing individuals for who they are, honoring and celebrating their strengths, interests, likes and dislikes along with their voices and recognizing that each person leads their own life in their own way.
Each episode brings forward families who are walking their own unique path. They’ll share what they’ve learned along the way, what surprised them, and the creative, person-centered approaches that have helped their loved ones thrive. Most importantly, these are stories about listening, about how adult children lead the way in shaping their own lives, and how families grow alongside them.
This podcast isn’t about perfection or expertise. It’s about connection and possibility. It’s about hearing something in someone else’s story that makes you feel seen, understood, or inspired to think differently and/or even to try something new.
We’re inviting people to share their story via podcast because their experience matters and chances are, it’s exactly what another family needs to hear!
