Community Living

A Woman weaving a potholder

Every year, the Community Living Education Project assists hundreds of individuals and families as they explore community living. With a focus on person-centered practices, transitions to community living happen person-by-person, family-by-family.

We invite you to read the story of one individual, Lizzy Kearns, and her dedicated family. We were honored to work with Lizzy and to have had the chance to know such a remarkable person.

Welcome to the inaugural digital edition of My Life Now.

After a successful decade as a print magazine, The Community Living Education Project (CLEP) is thrilled to re-launch this publication in an online format.

Our mission with this publication remains the same: to spotlight individuals who have transitioned from developmental centers, nursing homes, or family homes to vibrant community settings.  We celebrate their journeys of empowerment and self-discovery and share how they have embraced choice and control in their lives.

In this edition, we shine a spotlight on Carmelys Vincent, a remarkable individual whose story epitomizes the essence of a person-centered approach to community living.
